About This Place

Welcome to Boris & Horton, a beloved café nestled in the vibrant East Village of New York City, where our four-legged friends are always invited to join the fun. Located at 195 Avenue A, this unique establishment celebrates the bond between pets and their owners, making it a go-to destination for dog lovers seeking a cozy spot to enjoy delicious food and sip on exquisite drinks.

Under new ownership, Boris & Horton has revamped its offerings, creating a welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for both humans and their canine companions. The café boasts a specially curated pet-friendly menu that ensures your furry friend can indulge alongside you. From dog-friendly cupcakes to a tantalizing selection of savory dishes for humans, every visit promises a delightful experience.

Expect a robust menu featuring breakfast staples like mouth-watering breakfast burritos, complemented by their exceptional Devociõn coffee, which has garnered rave reviews for its rich flavor. Customer experiences highlight the friendly and accommodating service, ensuring that every guest feels right at home, whether they’re two-legged or four-legged.

The café features two separate entrances—one for patrons and another for pooches—enhanced by a controlled door system to maintain safety for all. While the vibrant energy can sometimes lead to a bustling atmosphere, guests have shared how it embodies the spirit of a community of dog lovers, ready to share a meal and a moment in a vibrant setting. It's a wonderful place to enjoy brunch specials such as croissant French toast or to unwind during the new "yappy hours," which feature drink specials that will keep both you and your furry friend wagging your tails.

However, it’s essential to note that busy times can lead to a bit of chaos, especially with multiple pooches in attendance. Some visitors have expressed concerns about larger dogs mingling too freely, so for a more relaxed experience, consider visiting during off-peak hours. The availability of unique pup treats, like pup cakes and pupper cups, adds a fun twist to your outing and ensures your furry friend feels just as special as you do.

Whether you’re looking to sip on a glass of sparkling wine from Conquilla Barcelona or savor a delightful coffee while snuggling with your pup, Boris & Horton creates a magical café experience. With its charm, community spirit, and dog-friendly vibe, it’s clear why this café is a cherished spot among New Yorkers. So why not gather some friends—both human and canine—and join the fun at Boris & Horton? You won't leave disappointed.

Recently under a new ownership and have a lot of new offerings. Got a small dog and it's fun to bring him over and hangout here to get some drinks and early cocktails. They also get the new yappy hours with 2 dollars off cocktail and brunch specials like croissant french toast.

Boris & Horton – A Dog-Friendly Café Experience in NYC I recently visited Boris & Horton in the East Village with my daughter and our Yorkiepoo, Missy. I love the idea of a café where you can bring your dog and enjoy a meal in a fun, pet-friendly atmosphere—it’s such a unique experience in the city. I had the chicken patty with black rice and lamb with vegetables, along with a refreshing apple juice. My daughter ordered a bowl with chicken, and she really liked it. We also treated Missy to a dog-friendly cupcake, which was a sweet touch. The space was clean and had a relaxed, community feel. You can tell it's a place made for dog lovers. Now, while I appreciated the freedom for dogs to roam, that part came with some challenges. A few larger dogs walked up to our table while we were eating and tried to get at our food. Unfortunately, not all owners were mindful of their pets, which made things a bit uncomfortable. Missy, who isn’t used to being around a lot of dogs, stayed quietly in her bag next to me the whole time. Overall, I’d definitely visit again—just maybe during a quieter time of day. If you have a social dog and want a chill place to grab a bite, Boris & Horton is a great option. I just wish more dog owners would keep an eye on their pups so everyone can enjoy their meals in peace.

Devociõn coffee is incredible. Breakfast burrito is mouth-watering with a subtle kick. Service is super friendly and accommodating. And what's better than dining with well-behaved pups??? Boris & Horton is an uplifting way to start the day!

We finally checked out the reopening of Boris & Horton. There’s two separate rooms and entrances, one for humans and one for dogs. I liked how they have a controlled door where you can enter one at a time for the safety of dogs. When we entered, tbh, it was a bit chaotic. It was filled with both people and dogs, but more people than dogs. It was super loud in there and not a lot of space for dogs to roam around. There were a couple of people without dogs dining and felt a bit uncomfortable because my pup likes to jump up on the table and smell/eat the food, so I felt a bit uneasy because I didn’t want my pup to disturb them. There was also a big group that was celebrating a birthday, which was not the dog’s birthday but the owner’s (I just don’t think it’s the right place to have one, tbh). However, I did really enjoy the cold brew and cheese danish, but dogs aren’t allowed in the other room where you have to pick up the order. I felt uncomfortable leaving my pup alone in the other room, so you’ll want to have someone else with you at the time to watch your dog. My pup loved eating the pup cake, which they had a variety of along with pupper cups. On the other hand, it was cool to see my pup’s picture being selected to be hung on the bathroom wall. We’ll definitely be back, but at a time when it’s not too busy.

Great service. Went to a Lady & the tramp event and was well taken care of with my pup. The setup was lovely. Along with the pup menu, dog menu and table setups. My pup loved the squash and meatballs. Tiramisu was great as well. Loved the photo op. Always liked coming here. They've always been good to my pup and very accommodating.

This cafe is suuuuper cute! The owner is so nice! She has great energy and says hi to every guest! I like that there is a dog only area where dogs can roam freely and you can hang out with them just for $5 extra! But if you just want to be on your own, there’s a nice quiet spot for that as well. I love the music is subtle in the background, not too loud but enough for the vibe while you can still read or get in your zone.

Best dog friendly spot in the city! As a dog "uncle" i love being able to pop in for a little doggie time, stay cool or warm up, and have some tasty treats. Service and staff is friendly, efficient, and easy. Dogs can be off leash in half the area, and there's lots of regulars. I really liked the iced teas, cocktail options, and the pesto mozzarella was delicious! Looking forward to my next visit!

Heaven on earth! Devocion coffee, extensive food menu, and pups all around. It’s a $5 experience fee for “groups” - so solo, pair, party of 6 will all pay the same. Service is slightly slow, but the dogs make up for it. Coffee was a bit watery (needed less milk, more coffee), but the dogs make up for it. Wifi was good. Plenty of seating. Great place to work!! Will say, the food was pretty greesy / oily. Makes me nervous to fully explore the food menu… (we ordered chicken farro bowl)
